Current employment preparation of the students in dental hygiene, art and humanity, and natural science

Abstract
This study sought to compare the current employment preparation between dental hygiene students and regular university students. and to use the results as reference data to help dental hygiene students choose and prepare for their future career paths. A survey a total of 324 students including fourth year dental hygiene students, as well as liberal arts and life science students at the same school. Approximately 50% of dental hygiene majors sought employment in a clinical setting after graduation, while 60% of liberal arts and life science majors sought employment in a corporation. Fewer dental hygiene majors were preparing for English or certifications than liberal arts or life science majors. Furthermore, students who sought employment in a corporation had the most employment preparation such as English training and certification. In today¡¯s world where dental hygienists are entering various fields of, efforts to develop the field of dental
hygiene and its education process will be needed in order for dental hygiene graduates to compete with not only other graduates, but also individuals from various fields.
